''History'' by Daniela Blancas

When I started liking One Direction was when my cousin was obsessed with them and she
showed me two of their songs.   When she showed me the song it was during summer.   I
remember the song was “Live While You're Young” and “What Makes You Beautiful” i sorta liked
the song.  And so i search for more of their songs.   So then i started listening to One Direction
music so that's how i like One Direction now because their music makes me feel happy, excited
when i listen to their songs.

On the song History One Direction is talking about their their
memorize they've made ever since they became a band for 5 year and how everyone will still
remember them even if they aren't together no more because they've been together through
through the past 5 years since simon cowell had an idea of putting them as a band and the
members of One Direction are Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne.  One of
their old member was Zayn Malik because he felt like One Direction wasnt him so thats why
Zayn left the band.

One Direction uses loaded language throughout the song to convey the
important message that to value your time with your friends and remember all the good
memorize you've made with your friends.   And to value the time you have with your friends.   And to never forget your friends, even if you had a fight you can fix the problem.   All friends fight but you can fix the problem and keep making memorize.

By using Allusions, One Direction helps there listeners understand that you must value your time, memorize you've made with your friends. In their opening verse one direction immediately tells how they think that they are going to leave this all behind Harry says “You Gotta Help Me I'm Losing My Mind Keep Getting The Feeling You Wanna Leave This All Behind .( Behind 6-7)   In this line One Direction reveals the theme that to value your memorize with your friends and to never forget what you and your friends have been through together.   One Direction is able to select a strong positive reaction, promoting his listeners to value your memorize that you've made with your friends.

One Direction uses rhyme to help convey his message that to never forget all the memorize you've made with your friends.   And to value your time with your friends.   Also they talk about how they had some good and bad things that happens to them but they “Always make it out alive” saying that they had some fights but they somehow fix the problem and every things okay.       This shows that all friends fight and you can fix the problems that happen because friends are important.

I was particularly impressed by One Direction because the song was describing what they what they had when singing the song.   An example of this is when One Direction says “ Mini Bars, Expensive Cars, Hotel Rooms, New Tattoos, and Good Champagne, And Private Planes, But they don't mean anything cause the truth is out, I realize that without you here life is just a lie“ This strengthens the song by singing that all those expensive cars and hotel rooms don't mean anything without their friends because what matters the most is their friendship and not all those fancy expensive stuff.

“History” is a song that conveys a critically important message to listeners to value their memorize they've made with their friends .   This is relevant to my own life  because i'm going to graduate so i won't see most of my friends so i have to value the time i have left with my friends before we graduate.   Liam also sings about all the rumors and the fights they've had .   This topic is important because i know that all friends fight  and also famous people fight and people make many rumors about people.   I recommend that to value your time you have with your friends and to appreciate all the memorize you've made with your friends.

Special Place, Simple Thing by Taig Lonergan

The memory is as clear as blue skies, the weather that morning was not. Driving through the daily, thick fog on the way to school, I ask the question I ask every single day.

“Can we listen to the radio?” my squeaky 6 year old voice asks.

“No,” my dad replies as he pulls out an unfamiliar CD. “We’re going to listen to these new guys.”

I sigh as I sink back into my seat. I hear the buzzing and chirring as my dad slides in the CD. Before I know it, I am bobbing my head to the rhythmic, steady pulse of the very first song of the album. I grab the CD case to find out the name of the song. “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane. Not bad.

Keane is an English band who consist of three members. They all grew up in Battle, where they enjoyed playing football (soccer) before walking through fields and woods on their way home. They were discovered in 2002 by Simon Williams, the same person who discovered Coldplay. They released their first album with Island Records in 2005. They rose to the top of the Billboard charts with that album, which has “Somewhere Only We Know” in it.

Keane use symbolism, rhyme, and personification during the song to communicate the universal theme that having something (hobby, sport, item, etc.) to do or use and a special place to go to is the best way to cheer up.

The first figurative device used to deliver the theme that the easiest way to brighten your day is to spend time at a specific place that is significant to you is symbolism. In the first verse of the song, Keane begin to describe the place that is personally special to them. “I felt the earth beneath my feet / Sat by the river and it made me complete” (“Somewhere” 3-4), is how Keane wrote their feelings for this area they are giving a description of. Keane use the symbols of the earth and river to represent characteristics of the special place that “completes” them. The earth could represent the surface that is traveled upon and the river as a certain object that is an essential part of the place. This reveals the theme that having a special place to rely on and express feelings at is helpful because they use the earth and river to symbolize the surroundings of this magical location that makes them feel whole.

Secondly, Keane uses rhyme to communicate the insightful message that using or doing something that is important to you is helpful when ridding yourself of stress. In the first stanza, Keane sing about their special place, but, in the second stanza, they sing about their simple thing. In the chorus, Keane ponder, “Oh simple thing, where have you gone? / I’m getting old and I need something to rely” (“Somewhere” 5-6). By rhyming “gone” with “rely on,” along with mentioning something being lost as well as becoming older, Keane are connecting feeling weary to not having a relief of pressure and responsibility in their life. This reveals the theme that having a simple thing might lighten your mood by conveying to the listener that having something simple to relieve some of their stress makes them feel younger and more alive by admitting he feels aged without it.

Thirdly, Keane also demonstrate the theme by incorporating personification within the lyrics. In the first stanza, Keane were depicting the visit to their former special place and later on in the song, they sing about how the rest of the encounter went with the words: “I came across a fallen tree / I felt the branches had been looking at me” (“Somewhere” 9-10). Keane personify the fallen tree as to have vision in order to show how that particular remnant of the magical location reminds them of how significant its impact has been on each of their lives. This reveals the core message that going to a place that means a lot to you is helpful because they, by practically giving a dead tree eyes, are conveying that they cannot ignore the benefits of having a special place because they are basically staring right at them, clearly in plain sight.

A compelling aspect of “Somewhere Only We Know” is the execution of its sound. They use the instruments of piano, drum set, and vocals to create a song that sounds like so much more than it is. This is evident when the line, “This could be the end of everything” (“Somewhere” 19), is sung because the melody rises and falls multiple times in just one line, even in “everything” 4 times. All throughout the song, the drum and piano combine to create a steady beat that, to my ears, produces a sound much like that of a bass.

Unfortunately, the music video was not up to par. In the video, the band plays in a river in the middle of a forest, which clearly stands for the special place, but, towards the end of the music video, small, tree-like creatures with swirly, big, blue eyes, a small blue mouth, and a reddish-yellow hole where the heart normally is start appearing far too often. This seems random with no evident explanation for them, but I could only guess that they stand for the magic and mystery of the unique location.

The greatest strength of this piece of artistry is the insightful message portrayed and how well the song was written to convey it. When Keane asked their listeners, “So why don’t we go somewhere only we know?” (“Somewhere” 20), I wondered where my own special place is. I figured out it was my backyard, where I often play soccer (my simple thing) for hours with my brothers. This is why this song brings many happy memories and leaves me with a smile on my face.

“Somewhere Only We Know” is a song filled with symbolistic lyrics that clearly represent Keane’s love for their surroundings. Using those phrases, the message that having something (hobby, sport, item, etc.) to do or use and a special place to go to is the best way to cheer up is conveyed through a piece of art that sounds like so much more than it really consists of. As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, this song resonated with me because it brought back so many great memories of when I was younger, playing for hours in my dirt and weed backyard for countless hours with my brothers. While this song connects to me, it connects to others as well. I think this message reminds everyone that they sometimes need a break from the rest of the world and go somewhere private or simply do something that just makes them happy. A similar theme is also found in pop song “Paradise,”where the band Coldplay sing, “Life goes on, it gets so heavy / … She’d dream of paradise” (“Paradise” 8/15). This is an excerpt that can clearly convey a theme that when life becomes “heavy,” or stressful, going someplace away from society, whether physically or mentally, can let your mind escape the wrath of life’s struggles. All listeners of “Somewhere Only We Know” should reflect upon their own lives and determine whether they have a special place (or need one), because I personally believe that if you have one, it provides a golden platform for mountains of happy memories.

Blank Space by Caroline Orellana

I now Taylor Swift because of my friend. My friend was saying that Taylor Swift  was a good singer, at that time I was not interested in listening the music of Taylor Swift. But one day I was looking for the music most played and one of the music it was from Taylor Swift “Blank Space” I get curious to listen to that song .When I listen to that song I liked and I didn’t stop listening the song. Taylor Swift was born in December 13, 1989 in Reading Pennsylvania. She started singing at the age of 5. Taylor sing the start-spanged “banner” at the age of 11 at Philadelphia 76ers .When Taylor Swift  was 16 years she released her first album called “tay”.Taylor sing country and pop music. The person who inspire her is her grandmother. Taylor uses simile throughout  the song to convey the theme that all good thing go to a end.

Taylor Swift uses simile to convey the theme that all good thing go to a end. In her seven verse, Swift talks about her relationship. Swift said “Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream”(“Blankspace” 19 ). In this line,Swift may look like she's a total sweetheart and all, but once you get lured into her "trap", you'll find out that she's basically far from sweet. This reveals the theme that all good things go to an end by using nightmare as a symbol that the relationship will going to end bad.

Taylor Swift uses simile to convey the theme that all good thing go to an end. In her opening verse, Swift talks about when she is starting to like a boy. Swift says ¨Oh my god look at that face you look like my next mistake¨(Blank 5-6). In this line she is compares the man to a mistake in order to show that if taylor enters to the relationship with a man, it will most likely be a mistake and end badly. This reveals the theme that not all things going to be good

A particular strength of the song is the emotional. I think this is strength because it give more attraction to the song. For example in her second verse she says ¨I´m dying to see how this one end¨. This strengthens the song by using the emotions. The most problematic aspect of the song is the chorus. An example of this is when Taylor Swift sings ¨Because you now I love the players And you love the game¨. The song would have been stronger if Taylor Swift wouldn't say it loud

¨Blank space¨ is a song that convey an important theme to listeners : all good thing go to a end. This is important because everyone past in this situation of the relationship. I  recommend this song because is a good song and because it show the problems that every relationship have.

The Meaning of "Glory" by Masten Peters

The lights were dim in the classroom as the teacher set up the video. This wasn’t unusual; in Ms Bellinger’s 7th grade ELA room, the window shades were drawn most of the time, making the classroom as dark as a cave. As for today’s lesson, Ms Bellinger was going to show us the music video for a song by a musician known as John Legend. The music itself was apparently produced as soundtrack for the recently released movie Selma. Although there were a few whispers here and there, my class was mostly silent, waiting for the video to start.  After a few seconds, Ms Bellinger hit “play” and the song began.

It wasn’t what I was expecting at all. The song opened up with piano music, accompanied by images of MLK and other Civil Rights Movement leaders that appeared in Selma. Then it cut to a scene of an African-American man playing the piano while singing. There was no doubt in my mind; this man was John Legend.  As I continued to listen, I noticed references to the Civil Rights Era, Christian lore and teachings, and, surprisingly, Black Lives Matter.  Although I don’t remember the specific emotions I felt at the time, I remember the rest of the experience clearly. Later on, as I took a look at the song’s lyrics, I began to see some of the connections and similarities between the CRM and the BLM. I also began to understand John Legend’s point of view.  And the song’s name? Just one simple word: “Glory”.

The man we call John Legend was born John Roger Stephens on December 28, 1978, in Springfield, Ohio. He grew up in a music-oriented family, and began learning piano and singing gospel at the age of five. He also performed in church. He made his first prominent music appearance in the song “Everything is Everything” by Lauryn Hill, where he acted as a pianist. After college, he moved to New York and started appearing in albums by various artists, including Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson, and Kanye West. It was during that time that Stephens’ friend, a poet by the name of J. Ivy, nicknamed him ”The Legend” during an interview. After this, he not only began using “John Legend” as his stage name, he actually changed his real name to John Legend, too. When his first album, “Get Lifted”, was released in late 2004, it became an instant hit.

Legend’s music is often described as gospel, pop or “neo-soul”. The song I described earlier, “Glory”, was used as Selma’s theme song, and hasn’t been released in a formal album. It was written by both John Legend and Common, and the recieved an Academy Award for Best Song, which the two artists shared. In “Glory”, Legend conveys his theme that the purpose of the BLM movement is to finish the fight for equality that began with the Civil Rights Movement by using allusion, rhyme and symbolism.

By using allusion, Legend helps his listeners understand that the purpose of the BLM is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM. In the song’s second stanza, Legend connects an event from the Civil Rights Era with a modern-day event. He explains, “That’s why Rosa sat on the bus/ That’s why we walk through Ferguson with our hands up” (“Glory” 17-18) In these lines, Legend alludes to both Rosa Parks’ protesting unfair and racist bus policies and the Ferguson protests against a racist police shooting. This reveals the theme that the BLM’s purpose is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM by connecting the actions of a Civil Rights Era icon with the actions of BLM supporters and citizens in Ferguson. Both were major protests in the country, and Legend believes that they both happened for the same reason: to oppose racism and discrimination within our government that has existed throughout history.

Also, through the use of rhyme, Legend communicates to his audience that the purpose of the BLM is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM. In his music, Legend reveals his belief that the BLM’s founding is related to an “awakening” in the African-American community. He sings, “Somewhere in the dream we had an epiphany/ Now we can right the wrongs in history” (“Glory” 45-46) By rhyming “epiphany” with “history”, Legend connects the African-American people’s realization that the CRM’s work still wasn’t done with the BLM trying to prevent history from repeating itself. This reveals the theme that the BLM’s purpose is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM by showing that the African-American community’s “epiphany” is what caused the BLM to be formed. Once they realized that the CRM’s dream still wasn’t realized, Legend thinks they created the BLM movement to rid our country of the racism that plagues its government and finish their forefathers’ mission.

Finally, by using symbolism, Legend demonstrates to his fans that the purpose of the BLM is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM. In his music, he talks about a metaphorical “torch”, as well as how far the black community has come in the fight for civil rights. The way Legend puts it, “They marched with the torch, we gon’ run with it now/ Never look back, we done gone hundreds of miles” (“Glory” 37-38) Here, Legend uses the symbol of the torch to represent equality, like the torch the Statue of Liberty holds. This reveals the theme that the BLM’s purpose is to finish the fight for equality that began with the CRM by communicating that the BLM is carrying on their forefathers’ work. Legend feels that modern African-Americans must carry the “torch of equality” as the Civil Rights Movement did before them, and they’ve come too far in their fight for civil rights to stop now.

A particular strength of the song is its references to famous and beloved Civil Rights Era figures. A major example of this is when Legend dedicates an entire passage to one such person; the part where this happens is,
From dark roads he rose to become a hero
Facin’ the league of justice, his power was the people
Enemy is lethal, a king became regal
Saw the face of Jim Crow under a bald eagle (“Glory” 39-42)
The specific words Legend uses-saying that the man was a hero, that he fought the corrupt justice system, that his strength was his being backed by the common people, and referring to him as a “king”-leave no doubt in his listeners’ minds that the man Legend is discussing is none other than Martin Luther King, Jr. This strengthens the song by connecting the BLM movement, which is seen by some as violent and radical, to a benevolent and honorable civil rights leader. Legend is stating that, despite the highly contrasting depictions of both parties, their goals are similar, and as such they are not quite so different after all.

A problematic aspect of the song is that some parts of it are confusing. Although some people may easily understand those lyrics, others may not, and this could impact their understanding of the song. One such verse is, “Justice is juxtapositionin’ us” (“Glory” 13) Many people may not know the definition of the word “juxtaposition”, and so they won’t understand the piece. I had to look up the word myself, which turned out to mean “the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect”. Even after learning the definition, I still don’t understand what Legend means, and other people may be in the same state of confusion. This weakens the song by confusing the listeners so they don’t understand the lyrics. That single line may have a vital meaning, and by wording it as he did, Legend could cause some audience members to miss it.

On the whole, “Glory” is a unique song that communicates to our country that the BLM’s true mission is to finish the work of their forefathers in the CRM. This song resonated with my life because I’ve been hearing a lot of news concerning the BLM, but not once did I connect or compare their goals to that of the Civil Rights Movement. Now, thanks to Legend’s music, I have begun to see the similarities between the two movements. This topic is relevant to our country because the BLM has sparked a sort of social and political revolution that seeks to oppose the most corrupt portions of our police force and government, and because of that, many media sources are depicting them as aggressive and radical-the opposite of the CRM. If people don’t start to see the connections between the two, then the BLM’s negative portrayal will continue, and they will not gain as much support as they need in order to succeed. If you see Black Lives Matter as exclusively violent and immoral, then listen to “Glory”. It could change your world.

"See you again" by Karen De Leon

One day I went with my family to the cinema and we were about to see the fast and furious 7, we were so excited when it started we were so happy, but at the end of the movie I already knew that Paul Walker has just died and his brother was making his role in the film, so at the end of the film was added a music called “ See you again” by Charlie Puth and this song was in charge of the soundtrack for the action movie 2015  Furious 7 as a tribute to the deceased  Paul Walker. This song makes me mourn, and makes me mourn because it is friendly and it's sad but I realized that with the music they were showing how much they wanted and appreciated Paul Walker, I was with my BFF and while listening to her was eager I have a friendship like that with my "bff" that will last forever, I mean my friend is no longer my friend, but in my heart I feel I'm missing a piece of heart within me because now remember everything we've been through and although she is not with me, I will never forget. Now that I hear this song reminds me every moment that passes beside her and it's sad because for comments people stop being "BFF" and we get mad at each other we could not deal with it. This song hurts me because now that she's with another girl and she is making a new friend. I can connect this piece of the song to one of the memories I have with it is the piece of the song was

“So let light guide your way, yeah
Keep all the memories as you go
And every path you take, always take home, home.” (46/48)

This piece of the song reminds me of a time with my "BFF" she said, she would always remember all the things we did together, jokes in my house and all the sleepover we did, but I realized that was not true friendship because if our friendship had been true were still together and not separate as now. But I agree with the message and also dedicate this song to her to remember our friendship and do not forget all things together no matter if it was not a true friendship were friends and that is never forgotten.

Charlie Puth exploded into the music scene on March 10, 2015. He was burn on december 2, 1991 in Rumson New Jersey and he is an american singer. One of his favorite quotes he likes to said is “ I don’t love the Hollywood mentality, but I do love the weather and how motivates everyone is around here, It motivated me to make fun music. He got his big big break when his song “ See you again” with an American rapper Wiz Khalifa, became a worldwide sensation after the release of Furious 7. His first album was called “ Nine track.” When Charlie Puth was little he make a youtube channel, hosting comedy videos and acoustic covers but now that he is 24 years old and he already got his big break with his song “See you again.”

Charlie Puth uses symbolism and rhyme throughout the song to convey the important message that people will never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever.

By using symbolism, Charlie Puth helps his listeners understand that people will never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever. In his opening worse Charlie Puth immediately dives into what they went through with his friend, he poses the question

“Damn who knew?
All the planes we flew” (7/8)

In this line, Charlie Puth is using the symbolism of a plane to make the idea of how their moments were. This revels the theme that people will never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever by pointing how their friendship was and describing them.

Charlie Puth also uses rhymes to help convey his message that people never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever. In the second verse, he turns his  attention to his friendship with the guy that die and relize that he was always by his side and now he relizes that he is not with him anymore and he says he is not going to be with him for the last ride. But sometimes people don’t take care of what they have until they lose that person that was always by your side helping you and supporting you to keep going on and never give up for any circumstances. He uses rhyme in the piece of the song where it says

“How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride.” (20/22)

By rhyming “my side” and “last ride” Charlie Puth is connecting the idea of taking care of people you have in your side with the idea that if you don’t take care of them time is going to run out and it is going to be late for you to regret. This revels the theme that people will never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever. Instead of being doing something else you should take care of that person because they will last forever in your heart and you will never forget them.

The greatest strength of the song “See you again” is the power and reflectiveness of its message. Charlie Puth uses symbolism “planes we flew” to drive home his overall message, for example when he says “planes we flew “ he is talking about all things they did and he is using the plane to describe those things. This strengthness the song because it is describing what they did like and airplane and also what they did.

“See you again” is a friendship song that conveys a critically important message to his listeners: people will never be forgotten and a true friendship will last forever. This song connected powerfully with my own experience, because when I was in my country I had a friendship, with a girl that was so nice we always spent time together, but one day her family decided to move to another country and I never saw her again but I still have our memories, all things we did together and also I will never forget them even though we don’t see our faces. Charlie Puth message is relevant today because in many high schools and middle schools there are still some friendships among students and it’s more between girls. In middle school some girls have their friends but they always have a friend that is always helping them and they consider them as their “bff” but when they get to 8th grade they don’t know what school they are going to be put on and if they chose the same schools to go their parents sometimes don’t like it and they want their childrens to go to different schools and what is best for their childrens, Well in some cases is like that, I recommend you to spend more time with your friends because you don’t know what can happen to that person you really love and is part of your life.

"I Knew You Were Trouble" by Rosisela Gonzalez

It was a long 5 hour flight from San Francisco to Guatemala after about 30 minutes the little tv in front of me turned on. Some random music started playing, after about 20 minutes this song called “I Knew You Were Trouble” catched my attention, it wasn’t really the lyrics because I didn’t really understand them, it was the music video that catched my attention. The music video catched my attention because it showed flashbacks of their relationship which gave me a really negative vibe towards the guy. The only part of the lyrics that really catched my attention was the spoken part that said “And the crazy thing is I don't know if I'm ever gonna feel that way again. But I don't know if I should.” In my opinion this is the most important part of the son because it lets you know how she feels after all of all of this has happened. Taylor Swift was born in December 13 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania. At a very young age she already knew what she wanted to do. At age 5 she started crafting songs and by age 11 she was already singing the “star spangled banner” at Philadelphia 76ers. She was spotted by Scott Borchetta during a performance in Bluebird Cafe and after that she was signed to his new label. She started writing country music with her first album “Tay”. After a few years she changed her genre to pop. She was influenced by her grandmother who was a professional opera singer. She also grew up listening to Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and LeAnn Rimes. She is also inspired by her good friend Ed Sheeran. The theme of the song is if you know someone is bad for you stay away from them because you're going to get hurt. The two devices I’m using to prove this are Verbal Irony and Loaded language.

By using verbal Irony, Taylor helps her listeners understand that if you know somebody is bad for you, you should stay away from them because you are going to get hurt. In her fourth verse, Taylor sings about her boyfriend bringin her down and he tries to pretend it isn’t his fault. “No apologies. He’ll never see you cry,/ pretends he doesn't know that he’s the reason why./ you’re drowning, you’re drowning, you’re drowning” (“Trouble” 35-37). Although Taylor doesn’t mean she’s actually drowning she refers to the feeling you have when you’re drowning, it feels like you're so useless and you can't do anything to save yourself. This reveals the theme that f you know somebody is bad for you, you should stay away from them because you are going to get hurt, because if this guy hurts her emotionally the it's not a healthy relationship and she should stay away from him to be happy.

Taylor uses Loaded language to demonstrate that if you know someone is bad for you, you should stay away from them because you’re going to get hurt. In the fourth verse of the song Taylor is discussing how she did everything for him but he was not loyal to her. “Now I knew you moved on from whispers on the streets/ A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be” (“Trouble” 37-38). Taylor uses the phrase “A new notch in your belt is all i’ll ever be” which means that she’s just one of the many girls he's been playing around with, to convey a negative attitude towards the guy not being loyal to her. This supports the theme that if you know somebody is bad for you, you should stay away from them because you are going to get hurt by showing that she is not his one and only then she’s not special to him and she should stop wasting her time and find someone else.

What makes “I Knew You Were Trouble” a powerful song is all of the emotion that is put into the song. Unlike other artists that just talk about girls and money, a message is always learned from a Taylor Swift song. In my perspective the last line from the song is very powerful because Taylor puts so much feelings into it “I don't know if you know who you are until you lose who you are” (“Trouble” 70). This part made it strong because it's true and it can be applied to the real world. Something that made it weak is one part of the chorus. Honestly the whole song is pretty emotional and it would make it more effective if the chorus had the same vibe as the entire song. In the part of the song that says “Now i'm lying on the cold hard ground oh! (“Trouble” 17)In my opinion she does too much in the oh! Part and if she notches it down a bit it would make it better.

If you know somebody is bad for you, you should stay away from them because you are going to get hurt. A text-to-world connection is that a lot of people get in relationships that end up in a messy breakup and they end up heart broken. Some people “love” that person so much that they can’t see that the other person is just hurting them and they could stop it but sometimes they’re too blind. If you like songs about heartbreaks or you know someone who likes them, make sure they listen to Taylor Swift so they know they’re not alone.

"Try Everything" by Miguel Villalobos

                                    "Try Everything"

In a hot day, on sunday my family decided that we should go to the movie theater, we ate breakfast, we dressed up, we got in the car and started driving to amc, we parked the car, and when we got into amc, we decided to watch Zootopia since my brother and sister wanted to watch the movie, we bought popcorn, it smelled delicious, and two big sodas, we got into our seats in the movie theater and the movie theater looked very big, and finally started watching the movie. It was a great movie, and at the end we listened to a song called “Try Everything”, when the song ended my brother and sister seem different, happy and inspired, after the song finished completely we found out that the artist that sang the song was Shakira.Shakira uses rhyme, loaded language and metaphor throughout the song to convey the important message that you should always try new stuff, and  to never give up no matter how many times you fail, just keep trying until you reach your goal.

Ripoll uses allusion, in order to help listeners understand that you should try new things and to never give up. In her opening Shakira immediately dives into messing up but starting over again.Ripoll sings, “Birds don’t just fly/They fall down and get up.” (“Try”5-6). In this line, Ripoll is telling us that when we mess up, we get up and try over again just like the birds. This reveals the theme that you should always try new stuff and to never give up no matter how many times you fail, just keep trying until you reach your goal.By this Ripoll encouroges everyone to never give up.

“I messed up tonight/ I lost another fight / I still mess up but i’ll just start again.” (“Try”1-3).By rhyming “tonight” with “fight” in line 1-2, Ripoll is connecting the idea to messing up(tonight) with the idea of losing the(fight). This reveals the theme that you should always try new stuff and to never give up no matter how many times you fail, just keep trying until you reach your goal.Shakira is telling her listeners that you’re going to fail a lot of times in your life, but shouldn’t give up, Shakira doesn’t gives up so you shouldn’t give up either. For example “I still mess up but i’ll just start again.”

A particular strength of the song “Try Everything” are the lyrics of the song. For example “No i won’t leave/I wanna try everything/I wanna try even though i could fail.” (“Try”19-21).This strengthens the song because Shakira is encouraging her listeners to be confident on themselves like she does. While the song has a powerful message, there’s a weakness on the song, and that is that Shakira didn’t talked about police brutality when police officers were on the entire movie she was involved in, she just gave recommendations instead of focusing in how to help in the movement to stop police brutality or at least other problems like gentrification, but instead she just gave recommendations.

“Try Everything” is an encouraging song that conveys an important message : in order to accomplish something, people should keep trying and to never give up no matter how many times you fail, you learn when you fail, you learn from your mistakes. This song is relevant to my own life because a lot of adults have been telling me to never give up, and to keep trying, and to try new things, not getting stuck in one thing. This topic is important because what most people do when they fail they just give up , but we shouldn’t give up, we should keep trying until we accomplish our goal.I recommend you to listen to the song carefully or read the lyrics of the song, and then work on your life skills to improve them by never giving up no matter how many times you fail and try new things, and learn from your mistakes so you don’t make them again but also take your time; and also share this song so more people can improve too, and make changes for a better life.
