“Right My Wrongs”
The first time I heard Bryson Tiller song Right My Wrongs was on february 20th with my cousin. We was walking out of the movies,we just got done seeing deadpool, when her sister came to pick us up. When we got in the car I was hearing the part of Bryson Tiller song “Don't’’, then when the next song came on I didn't know what sing it was, but all I hear is my cousin screaming,”This my song !!” and as soon as I heard Bryson say
could it be you calling me down?,
my foolish heart turns at the stars,
all that i am is all that you see you don't need nobody else ,
and you're putting this all on me, forgive me. (“Right” 1-4)
It made me feel forgiveness and then on out I knew this was going to be one of my favorite songs by Bryson Tiller.
Bryson Djuan Tiller (aka Pen Griffey) was born on January 2, 1993 in Louisville,Kentucky. He was four brothers and a daughter named Harley. When he was four his mom died, but he got older and finished school, he worked a full time job at papa john's and doing music part time straight out of his living room. Tiller was born in a town where talent isn't often unnoticed, but when he released his hit song “don't” on soundcloud that earned him a spot on the radar. Bryson Tiller use personification and allusion throughout the song to convey the message that do the best you can to say sorry or you will lose something you love.
By using personification Tiller says,” my foolish heart turns at the stars.” (“Right” 2) Tiller personifies his heart turning at the stars in order to show that he is looking for help from god to help him change his foolish ways. This reveals the theme that do the best you can to say sorry or you will lose something you love because by saying foolish he now knows what he did was wrong and now he is looking for help so he can get his girlfriend back.
By using allusion Tiller says,” hearts turns at the stars.” (“Right” 2) Tiller alludes to heaven and in heaven lives God who helps people change how they're feeling when they ask for help from God. this reveals the theme that do they best you can to say sorry or you will lose something you love because most people see heaven as a positive place, and as a listener I also see heaven as a positive place so this makes me feel happy.
A significant strength of “ Right My Wrongs” is the theme he used. Tiller relies on a relatable theme of forgiveness which everyone has to do but his forgiveness is his girl to forgive him for his wrongs which a lot of guys ask for when they did something wrong for example when bryson says,” feels like you dont got me so it feels like you been by yourself.” As a listener you can tell he’s basically saying if he had the time to come home more and everything will be ok, and she won't have to feel like she doesn't have a boyfriend. While the song has a powerful message, I am troubled by the way Tiller did not give more example of what he did wrong to his girl as a listener I think that he might had cheated on his girlfriend or did other things, if he had said 1 to 2 things he did bad to his girlfriend I think it will make the song stronger.
In conclusion “Right My Wrongs” is a great song to listen to if you ever do something wrong but you have to remember that you have to do the best you can to say sorry or you will lose something you love. This song connected with my own experience in my love life. My ex boyfriend wasn't loyal to me at one time and when I found out I was heartbroken but he did the best he can to say sorry and I forgave him because I still loved him and I think Bryson girl will forgive him too cause she will remember the good times and forgive him. I recommend that if you're ever in your feelings and you know you did something wrong, you should listen to more of Bryson Tiller songs because of it’s powerful message.
