My dad was sitting down on the couch watching soccer with the score 2-1. “How was your day on the couch dad?” I said to my dad. “It was amazing,” said my dad. I put my backpack down next to the table. I went to go get some water,”Get me a can of gas water,” I nodded to my dad. “Pass me my pills please,” my dad said,”Sure,” I said to my dad. “Papa I like the songs from AC/DC,” I said,”Really you should listen to this song from Aerosmith,” he said as I sat down next to him. My dad pulled out his phone, went to youtube, and search for the song.”Here listen,” he said and turned the volume of his phone all the way up. I listen and the first part of the song sounded like a symphony. I heard the beginning lyrics and I was hook. The emotions I had while listening were amazing. I felt love in my heart and wanted to find it. “Do you like the song?”, I nod my head. I loved the song and listen to it when I want to.

Steven Tyler born March 26,1948 currently 68-years-old. Born in Yonkers, New York. At a young age Tyler played the drums, but then focused on singing. He created a band with others and called Aerosmith. Their first gig was in 1970. During his career, Steven Tyler started doing drugs and right when that happen the band started to fall apart. Tyler went to rehab and got his old self back. He got new band members in the group, but the band will never be the same. The song “I don’t want to miss a thing” is in the album Armageddon. Release 1998 the album, Aerosmith sang this song in the movie Armageddon, Liv Tyler the daughter of Steven Tyler star in the movie. Steven Tyler uses loaded language and rhyme to convey the message that being with the person you love, you should treasure every moment with them, also be thankful you have them.

By using rhyme, Tyler conveys the lesson that being with person you love, you should treasure every moment with them. In the verse “I don’t wanna miss one kiss/Well, I just wanna be with you/Right here like this”, Tyler is rhyming “kiss” with “this” by saying that a kiss represents love and you don’t want to miss the feeling, You never want to miss love. In the lyrics Tyler explains how he justs wants to be with them and never miss a moment with them.

Loaded Language is used to communicate being with the person you love, you should treasure every moment with them, also be thankful you have them. In the opening verse of the song Tyler is discussing that every with his loved one will be treasured. As you can see, the connection of the loaded language to the theme.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing

Watch you smile while you are sleeping

While you’re far away and dreaming

I could spend my life in this sweet surrender

I could stay lost in this moment forever

Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure(“Wanna”1-6)

While the song does talk about love and say we should treasure it, a weakness of the song is not having enough variety and enough different lyrics to explain the theme a bit more. An example of this is when the song has these lyrics,

Don’t wanna close my eyes

I don’t wanna fall asleep

Cause I’d miss you baby

And I don’t wanna miss a thing  (“Wanna”7-10)

and then these lyrics,

Don’t wanna close my eyes

Don’t wanna fall asleep

Cause I’d miss you baby

And I don’t wanna miss a thing (“Wanna”37-40)

These lyrics are both almost the same and the message is repeated. This weakens the song by using the same words over and making the song a bit boring.

I was impressed by Steven Tyler singing in one of the verses which show how powerful his voice can be to convey the theme. In the music video, you can hear Steven Tyler singing

I just wanna hold you close

I feel your heart close to mine

And just stay here in this moment

For all the rest of time, yeah, yeah, yeah! (“Wanna”33-36)

This strengthens the song because you can feel the emotions given by Steven Tyler when he sings.

In conclusion, Steven Tyler and Aerosmith communicates the theme: being with the person you love, you should treasure every moment with them, also be thankful you have them. This song reminds me of the person I love at this school. I wasted some of my days with them because of my stupid jealousy. I get jealous when someone is with them and makes them laugh. I overcame my jealousy and just focused on the good times. Everytime I listen to this song I will always remember the theme. I am sad that I won't see this person in High School. I just wish I can have  hundred more years with this person. I learned my lesson and I want to say that don´t make the same mistake I did and just be with the person you love and never miss a moment with them because if you do, you will regret it.
