Say It - By Selena Napitan

  SAY IT
The first time I heard the song “Say it” was when me and my sister just came from shopping and she’s was playing her music out loud. She switched on 92.5 radio station and on came the song Say it. As I listen to the lyrics:
“You gon have to do more than just (Say it)”
“You gon have to do less when you (Do it)”
“Tell mama you know I (Show it)”
“See you gon have to do more than just (Say it)” (“Say’’ 1st Verse)
As I realize that this song is very catchy! As the lady says “ 92.5 that was say it by Tory Lanez”, I quickly hurry to download the song on my phone.

Tory Lanez released one of his album “THE NEW TORONTO” on December 25, 2015, and came out with another song called “Say it” which was performed on one of his tours. Tory Lanez uses a simile and rhyme throughout the song to convey the important message that If you love someone, you got to make sure that they love you for you.

By using a simile, Tory Lanez conveys his listeners to understand that if you love someone, you got to make sure that they love you for you. When Lanez raps, “Ain’t goin’ act like you ain’t bout, my door you know ain’t open girl you know i’m down for, take your time to find you out, won’t hesitate to take the time no baby, streamin’ out, the foreign out.” (“Say’’ Second Verse). In these lines, tory lanez is speaking out that he’s trying to figure out the relationship between him and his girlfriend. This reveals the theme that if you love someone you got to make sure that they love you for you because it’s important to not get hurt by love or a relationship.

By using rhyme, Tory Lanez conveys his listeners to understand that if you love someone you got to make sure that they love you for you. When Lanez raps ‘’Ain’t goin’  act like you ain’t bout/ take your to to find you out/ streamin’ the foreign out’’. By rhyming ‘’Bout’’ with “Out’’ Tory Lanez is connecting that she isn’t should walk out without not trying to take her time. This reveals the theme that if you love someone you got to make sure that they love you for you because it’s important to not get hurt by love or a relationship.

The greatest strength “Say It” has a kind and thoughtful message. Tory Lanez strategically symbolizes a simile to say that the girl only hits his phone up, when she needs something from him. The foreign car and the line, “screamin’ the foreign out might represent that how back in the day he had a foreign car and he wants to be able to scream a foreign language. While it could be argued that Tory Lanez is comparing the girl to their relationships, In order to show that their relationship needs to be figured out and at the end see how it flows. By the end of “Say It”, I was personally left with a small bit of confusion but also relieved to finally figure out the message in the song. This song was clearly written for himself and not so much for his fans.

It is clear that if you love someone, you got to make sure that they love you for you. This song is relevant to to my own life because I know that my sisters friend has been played and heartbroken because she found out that her boyfriend was only with her because she had money. And I would recommend that to be open minded about who you date because they could have an advantage and date you just for your riches.
